Rules & Judging

Final Submission Deadline is Monday, April 6th, 2009.  All films must be uploaded no later than 5:00 p.m. to be considered for awards.          

Rules:

All participants must adhere to the following rules:

  1. Students must be currently enrolled undergraduates in good standing at UCF.
  2. All work submitted work must be original and/or free of copyright infringements.
  3. No nudity, sex, drugs or profanity.
  4. Please consult UCF's Policy on the Use of Copyrighted Materials for more details and specific restrictions and limitations pertaining to the materials you may integrate into your project/piece.
  5. All behavior should abide by UCF policies including the requirements of the student conduct code.
  6. No violations of state or federal law (to the best of your knowledge).
  7. Submitted story concepts and finished videos must relate to the Unifying Theme questions as stated on the enter page.
  8. Submitted videos cannot exceed two minutes in length (Not negotiable.)
  9. The due dates for story concept and final submission deadlines are also non-negotiable (Sorry - no retakes, incomplete's, or retries on this one).
  10. The meStories staff reserves the right to reject any submission for failing to follow the above guidelines.

Judging:

The judges will assess story concepts and the finished videos over the course of two rounds. Only those who pass Round 1 will be permitted to move on to Round 2.

Round 1: Judges will review the story boards and/or treatments based upon the following criteria.

Round 2: Judges will review the final videos using the following criteria. Notes:

Participation in Round 1 of the competition does not guarantee you a spot in Round 2. Judges reserve the right to reject submissions that do not meet the competition's criteria.

Take care to make direct connections to the Common-theme related questions that drive the competition and to develop a concept that will not run longer than the maximum time limits imposed on the films.

Remember, there is no 'correct' answer to the questions that drive meStories. Entries will not be judged based on whether the judging panel agrees with your perspective. Instead, the panel will look how creatively the videos convey the intended perspective.
